Hi everybody. Jasper here. I’ve gotta make this quick. Maeve’s cleaning up the kitchen and she doesn’t realize I’ve commandeered her laptop. Dang it. I wish the keyboard on this thing wasn’t so freakin’ sensitive. Please excuse any typos. Toshiba obviously DID NOT take into account the size of a fella’s paws.
In case you don’t know, I’m Maeve’s writing partner and I REALLY need your help. You see, Maeve reads all her stories aloud to me and I let her know what I think. Old Maeve’s pretty perceptive and not half bad as a writer –for a human. But her tales have one problem that I just can’t seem to get corrected. Would you believe that woman doesn’t put enough dogs in her stories? It’s criminal!
BEYOND A HIGHLAND WHISPER (coming in February from The Wild Rose Press) only mentions a dog one time when Nessa (the heroine) says dogs are the only creatures capable of unconditional love. My Maeve nailed that one. Even though I’m sometimes forced to pee in her house-shoes to punish her for leaving me home alone, I’m doing it because I love her. AND I’ll always love her, no matter what. But she only mentions dogs ONE TIME in that story.
Her other story, ETERNITY’S MARK, is a little better. Hannah (the heroine) is a vet with an uncanny ability to know an animal’s thoughts. There’s a few more dogs in that story but not nearly enough to do us justice. By the way, ETERNITY’S MARK is the one she’s entered in some kind of contest. I think she called it Writing With the Stars? If you go to this link: http://www.rtbookreviews.com/content/writing-stars-vote-best-back-cover-blurb and vote for her, I would really appreciate it. Around here, if Maeve ain’t happy –NOBODY’S happy. She gets too quiet and wanders off into the woods when she's sad. Then I have to go find her and act like some sillly pup just to make her smile. You understand.
And one more thing, could someone please explain to me why it’s okay to pee on the trees in the yard but it’s NOT okay to pee on the fancy one that Maeve put in the house?
Whoops! Gotta go. I hear her heading this way. Remember, tell Maeve: MORE DOGS!

Jasper, you might tell Mommy I wish her good luck in the contest, but then she'd guess you were on the computer. Oh, darn. Guess I'll have to tell her myself.
ReplyDeleteJasper ~ you are amazingly adroit without a thumb. I'll help your mom in her contest! Nice doggie.
ReplyDeleteLet's just keep this between us, Miriam. *wink* But I know Maeve appreciates your support!
ReplyDeleteThumbs are highly over-rated. You've just gotta twist a little. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your help!!
Jasper, Jasper, Jasper. Don't you know that she's probably watching you from the kitchen? We have eyes in the back of our heads. If you can type her blog, why don't you leave her a note that says, "More dogs, less humans." Although my little furry friend, I don't think dogs would be able to replace a Scottish Highlander such as Taggart. Nice try though.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable dog you have, Maeve, and how clever you are. I don't know, he's so cute you might consider letting him pee on the inside tree. :)
ReplyDeleteOh what a great post, Jasper! You are a cutie, aren't you? We had a little black (female) Chihuahua with similar markings to yours when I was growing up. Since you can type so well, maybe you could "edit" a few doggies into Maeve's stories yourself, when she isn't looking. :) I'm sure she'd appreciate the help. Tell your mommie she has my support and best wishes in the contest!
ReplyDeleteMaeve can be extremely dense at times, Victoria. Oh my gosh! You're right. She's looking this way. Dang!
ReplyDeleteHi Paisley! I'll let Maeve know you said it's okay to pee on the tree. She's been a real nag about it ever since Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteHey Nicole! I knew an awesome lady like you would have a Chihuahua somewhere in her history. I'll let Maeve know you send your best wishes. She appreciates all your help and support -and so do I. I'm gonna give that editing thing you mentioned a shot. Who knows? I could be Maeve's doggie "ghost-writer". *wink*
ReplyDeleteCute post. My maltipoo Titi has always been my muse....guess I'll have to make her my writing partner so she can do promo work for me. lol! And BTW...Titi is pronouced Tea Tea....I just had no idea how to spell it other than writing T.T.
ReplyDeleteI'm POSITIVE Titi feels like I do, Lilly. MORE DOGS! And we dogs work pretty cheap when it comes to promo. All you gotta do is love us and I bet you love your Titi as much as my Maeve loves me.
ReplyDeleteJasper,
ReplyDeleteMeet Jack (he's the cute little guy in the picture). He's my writing partner.
He doesn't understand why he can't pee on the fancy tree in the house, too. lol He also likes to play with the cute toys hanging off the tree limbs. They had to be moved up higher and out of reach, but it's okay we gave him some treats and his own toys.
I wish Maeve lots of luck and Jasper, just being you will keep her happy. :)
Hey Karen! Hey Jack! Pleased to meet you both. Jack's right - those toys hanging on the fancy tree are AWESOME but Maeve won't let me play with ours either. That's okay though, some round guy in a red suit brought me an oinking pig and some dog biscuits. I know Maeve will end up being happy no matter what happens with that contest. But I love her so I want her to win. You and Jack take care!
ReplyDeleteJasper, Nibby has some advise. Try to avoid any trees near the house at all. It's always best to mark the corners of your yard. Nibby says don't screw this one up. The doggie toys were under the tree inside. You wouldn't pee on them would you. Well no usually anyways.
ReplyDeleteLook on the floor for droppings is the best advise Nibby can give to Jasper. And look all pitiful your mommy loves that!
Nibby sounds truly wise, Mary! I'm working on a new droopy-eared, nose between my paws look 'cause Maeve hasn't been in the back bedroom yet to see the "present" I left her. *ahem*
ReplyDeleteJasper,
ReplyDeleteI have a problem. Gracie, my lab, was surfing the net when I wasn't looking and she typed a love poem to you on my computer with her tail. It's amazingly agile.
"Jasper, I know it's true.
Oh Jasper, I love you."
The dog is thunder-struck with love! You shouldn't be so cute. What am I going to do now?
Bobbye
Wow! I LOVE labs. Two of my best buddies across the field are labs but I bet they're not as cute as Gracie. Gracie sounds like my kinda lady. Tell her I'm sending a tail-wag just for her and if she's ever in my neck of the woods, drop in and we'll share a couple of milkbones.
ReplyDeleteGood dog, Jasper. Not a typo in sight. Now I've got to go vote for your mommy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Shawn! I was VERY careful with Maeve's laptop. And thanks for the vote!
ReplyDeleteJasper, I hope Maeve gave you the miniature meatloaf presents for Christmas I suggested to her. You sure deserve them! :)
ReplyDeleteDear Jasper, I haven't had this much fun since I had to send an apology to the dogs across the street on behalf of my mom, who called to complain about their barking but called the wrong house! Humans. BTW, my mom already voted for your mom, and I sure hope she wins. You may only be a dog, but I'll bet you're a great crit partner. Your feline friend, Neko from New Hampshire
ReplyDeleteThat was you, Marsha? You are AWESOME!! Keep giving Maeve great ideas like that. I LOVE'M!
ReplyDeleteThanks Neko! I hope you're staying warm, my friend. Maeve's been leaving the TV on for me during the day and the weather you're getting looks awful! Take care and thanks for sayin' hi.
ReplyDelete"...dogs are the only creatures capable of unconditional love" What's that all about?
ReplyDeleteWe love our mom unconditionally - as long as she buys our cat food. Buffy & Spike
Maeve's had cats too, Buffy and Spike and not one of them has loved her as much as I have. At least I don't THINK they have. But they used to whisper amongst themselves a LOT. Sneaky critters. Purring one minute and whacking me on the nose the next and if I growl at them, Maeve tells ME to be nice. Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to meet you, Jasper! I have three writing partners (two dogs, one cat), but Cocoa, my German Shorthair, is the one who falls asleep with her her head in my lap. I think she knows how important it is to keep me warm during these winter months. Well, that, and her silky ears make perfect finger warmers. AJ
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you, Jasper. Let Maeve know that I voted! Oh, and I'm doing the happy dance about her upcoming release. Great way to start the year. She should be happy, so you all should be good for awhile. :)
ReplyDeleteHiya AJ! Cocoa sounds like a good writing helper. My ears stick straight up. They're little and pointy and not much there for finger warming. But I like to snuggle up against Maeve on the couch and prop my nose on her laptop when she's writing. I can see the screen better that way! Thanks for stopping by and tell your furry friends I said Hi!
ReplyDeleteHi, Ciara! I'll make sure Maeve knows you voted. She smiled when I told her everybody's kind words. Whether she wins that contest or not, she's been really touched by how kind people have been. Me too. For a bunch of humans, ya'll are all right. *wink*
ReplyDeleteBouncer here, Jasper, I'm a Jack Russell and lyn's writing companion. I didn't know there were other dogs who could us a computer, we'll have to get on Facebook, right?
ReplyDeleteLyn says to wish Maeve Good Luck in the contest, she's sorry she's too late to vote, she only just found out about it. Oh - and talking about contests, did you know you won a download of Sharon Donovan's great new release 'Charade Of Hearts'? Lyn's been trying to contact you. If you email her at
Lyn at Hywelalyn.co.uk
she'll get it to you.
Must go, I think supper's in my bowl!
Jasper,
ReplyDeleteI wasn't going to post because I'm in a bit of a bad mood, Rachel has proclaimed a New Year's Resolution for me; I'm on a diet. The nerve of that woman!
Anywhoo, I'm Tiny and we must be related somewhere along the family tree because I look just like you, only with more "curves" :).
Tell your Mama we voted for her a while back and we are looking forward to her visiting our blog in February. Hey, are you coming along? The refreshments aren't so hot around here right now, at least for me, but I got a very cool rope toy for Christmas!
Hit me up on FB Jasper,
XOXO
Tiny
